Latest company news about The Difference between Brushless Motor and Brushed Motor

1. What is a brushless motor

As a typical mechatronic product, brushless motors generally refer to brushless DC motors, which are composed of a motor body and a driver. Since the brushless DC motor operates in a self-controlled manner, it does not add a starting winding to the rotor like a synchronous motor with heavy load under variable frequency speed regulation. Also, it does not produce oscillations and quick steps when the load changes suddenly. The permanent magnets of brushless DC motors with small and medium capacity are now mostly made of rare-tenth neodymium-iron-boron (Nd-Fe-B) materials with high magnetic shadow. Therefore, the volume ratio of rare-tenth permanent magnet brushless motors is one size smaller than three-phase asynchronous motors of the same capacity.

2. The difference between brushless motor and brushed motor.

(1) Scope of application:

Brushless motor: It is usually used in equipment with relatively high control requirements and relatively high speed, such as aircraft models, precision instruments and meters, etc., which have strict control over the motor speed and high speed.

Brushed motor: Usually, power equipment uses brushed motors, such as hair dryers, factory motors, household range hoods, etc. In addition, the speed of series motors can also reach very high, but due to the wear and tear of carbon brushes, the use of Lifespan is not as good as brushless motors.

(2) Service life:

brushless motors: usually the service life is on the order of tens of thousands of hours, but the service life of brushless motors is also very different due to different bearings.

Brushed motor: Usually, the continuous working life of a brushed motor is several hundred to more than 1,000 hours. When the limit of use is reached, the carbon brush needs to be replaced, otherwise it is easy to cause wear of the bearing.

(3)Use effect:

Brushless motor: usually digital frequency conversion control, strong controllability, from a few revolutions per minute to tens of thousands of revolutions per minute can be easily realized. The brushed motor generally works at a constant speed after starting, and the speed regulation is not very easy. The series motor can also reach 20,000 rpm, but the service life will be relatively short.

(4) Energy saving:

relatively speaking, brushless motors controlled by frequency conversion technology will save a lot of energy than series motors. The most typical ones are frequency conversion air conditioners and refrigerators.

(5) maintenance:

the brushed motor needs to replace the carbon brush. If the replacement is not timely, the motor will be damaged. The brushless motor has a long service life, usually more than 10 times that of the brushed motor, but if it is broken, the motor needs to be replaced , but basically no daily maintenance is required.

(6) Noise:

noise has nothing to do with whether it is a brushed motor or not. It mainly depends on the cooperation between the bearing and the internal components of the motor.

(7) The parameter index of the index model brushless motor:

in addition to the external dimensions (outer diameter, length, shaft diameter, etc.), weight, voltage range, no-load current, maximum current and other parameters, there is also an important index KV value, this value It is a unique performance parameter of brushless motor and an important data to judge the performance characteristics of brushless motor.
